collaboRATE Frequently Asked Questions |
Please find answers to frequently asked questions about using collaboRATE for research or health service improvement purposes below. If you have a question not answered here, please Contact Us.
Can I use collaboRATE?
Yes. collaboRATE is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License. This means that you can download collaboRATE, use it, and share it with others.
Can I modify collaboRATE?
We recommend that collaboRATE not be modified as the measure has be rigorously developed and tested. Currently, two versions of collaboRATE are available: one for patients and one for parents/guardians of pediatric patients. Additionally, several different possible opening statements are provided. Should current versions of CollaboRATE not suit your needs, please Contact Us to discuss further adaptations to opening statements, items or response scales.
Can I tell others about collaboRATE?
Yes, you are welcome to share information about collaboRATE. These slides may be a helpful resource when presenting or talking about collaboRATE.
Can I translate collaboRATE into another language?
Yes, if a version does not already exist in your language of interest. Please Contact Us to inquire about versions in development. Additionally, we ask that translation teams follow the process outlined here in order to maintain consistency among versions of the questionnaire.
When should I administer collaboRATE?
We recommend that collaboRATE be administered within 24-48 hours of the clinical encounter where possible. This minimizes the possibility that the validity of collaboRATE will be affected by difficulties of recall.
What else should I know about administering collaboRATE?
We recommend offering patients privacy in which to complete collaboRATE, whether it is administered in a clinic or sent to patients at home. We hypothesize that ceiling effects are minimized when patients know their responses are confidential.
How many patients need to complete collaboRATE?
We recommend that a collaboRATE Score only be calculated when all three collaboRATE items have been completed for at least 25 clinical encounters for the particular provider, clinic, or other group of interest. More information on scoring is available here.
Do I need to do anything in return for using collaboRATE?
We would also be grateful if you could advise us about any publications that arise from your use of collaboRATE. A form for doing so is available in the Tools & Support section of the website. We would also greatly value the opportunity to discuss the possibility of sharing the data you collect using collaboRATE, if this is feasible for your project.
